HB 5350- AN ACT CONCERNING THE ENFORCEMENT OF BOATING LAWS ON BODIES OF WATER NEAR THE RHODE ISLAND, MASSACHUSETTS AND NEW YORK BORDERS is going before the Environment Committee in Hartford and via Zoom on Friday, March 15.
This bill is the first step in getting dual enforcement on Beach Pond by Connecticut and Rhode Island. Connecticut boating enforcement officials would be able to enforce boating violations on the Rhode Island section of Beach Pond and vice versa with Rhode Island boating enforcement officials. A similar bill will need to be passed in Rhode Island and I am in correspondence with RI DEM to get that step moving forward when the bill passes in Connecticut.
Residents and non-residents can submit written testimony for HB5350 and/or testify in person on Friday, March 15. I will be testifying in person with Representative Lanoue.
