Support Programs

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is a program created for individuals over 60 who are home bound under normal circumstances, have a mental or physical disability that prohibits the ability to prepare a well-balanced meal.

It only takes a few minutes to get you set up in the program. Contact TVCCA at 860-934-1010. Program is based on donations.

Meals are delivered Tuesday through Friday (between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.)  Meals are delivered hot, but frozen options are available.

Senior and Disabled Medical Transportation

Residents with Medicaid

Residents that have Medicaid are eligible for free transportation through the state of CT Non-Emergency Medical Transport program. Residents with Medicaid as a form of insurance need to call Veyo, the transportation provider, to request rides for medical appointments, the telephone number to call is: 1-855-478-7350. For more information on Veyo Non Medical Transport, download the guide here.

If a resident has Medicaid and another insurance, there might be non-Medicaid medical facilities that the resident visits. Veyo does not cover transportation to those facilities, the Dial-a-Ride would cover these visits. A note from the doctors office would be needed with the Dial-a-Ride registration form.

Residents without Medicaid

Starting on July 1, 2022 the Dial-a-Ride and Caregiver Mile Reimbursement Programs will be available to Voluntown residents who are Senior (age 60+) and/or with disabilities. This is a grant funded service and there is no guarantee that funding will be available all year.

There is a registration form for both programs that must be filled out and returned to Town Hall to participate. It can be downloaded and printed below, or it can be picked up at Town Hall. Each participant will be eligible for twenty-four 24 one way rides from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 while funds are available. We are currently accepting registration forms and upon approval residents will be able to schedule appointments for July as early as possible.

The Dial-a-Ride program will transport residents who have registered to (and from if needed) medical appointments anywhere in New London County, Plainfield, and Killingly. If you medical location is not in this transportation area, the Caregiver Mileage Reimbursement Program is an option.

The Caregiver Mileage Reimbursement Program reimburses friends, neighbors, family members an amount based on the IRS standard mileage rate. This program is also only for rides to and from medical appointments.

For more information on the Dial-a-Ride and the Caregiver Mileage Reimbursement Program, view the PDF here.
